Truth be told there is a great deal of mechanics in Diablo 2 that having knowledge of you could use to your advantage. The casual Diablo 2 player straight from battle.net would probably not have knowledge of the various numbers and formulas out there that you could use to calculate how to make your character better. Some may be unaware for example that the game never keeps track of time in seconds.
